Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP)
Treatments (Skin Rejuvenation)

An advanced collagen regenerative treatment

About PRP

PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma) skin rejuvenating treatment is a research-proven method using an extract of platelets derived from your own blood. The PRP contains a concentration of proteins that stimulates collagen, promotes healing and triggers the release of various types of growth factors in the area it is injected.

Micro-needling with topical application of PRP can also be performed as an adjunct treatment which is highly recommended for people with acne scaring.

How does PRP work?

Book your PRP treatment to slow the natural decline of elastin fibres and collagen that begins in the early 20s.

PRP Injections work by releasing growth factors from your platelets into your skin. Those growth factors then stimulate the production of new collagen, elastin, and blood vessel formation in the treated areas. This leads to firmer and tighter skin that is naturally rejuvenated.

When injected into the scalp, dormant hair follicles in the telogen (resting) phase of hair growth are stimulated into the anagen (growth) phase. Along with more active hair follicles, the re-grown hair will be stronger with an increase in strand thickness and hair density.

BEFORE & AFTERS

What To Expect Before During And After The Treatment

  • Arrive to your appointment makeup free and well hydrated (1-2L of water is ideal).
  • Avoid alcohol for 24 hours prior.
  • Make sure you are feeling well and are in good general health.
  • Must not be pregnant or breastfeeding.
  • No anti-inflammatories (i.e., Ibuprofen) for up to 5 days prior to treatment
  • For hair treatments, please wash hair on the day of the appointment.

The area to be treated will first be numbed for at least 40 minutes.  A small sample of blood is then drawn from your arm (the process is very much like a routine blood test).  Your blood will then be processed for a few minutes in a centrifuge to separate the plasma from the other blood components.  PRP is then extracted from the plasma.  The concentrated PRP is then injected superficially into the treatment area using a specific mesotherapy injector gun.  This device delivers precise amounts of the PRP across the treatment area and reduces product wastage.

  • Some injection points may be uncomfortable however this is minimised by the pre-application of numbing cream.
  • Please allow 1.5 hours for this treatment which is inclusive of your numbing and preparation.
  • Expect very mild bruising at the injection points in some areas, this can last for a few days.  This is easily camouflaged with makeup.  Minimal swelling may occur for 24-48 hours, especially under the eyes.
  • Avoid touching the treated area for at least 4 hours.
  • Use sun protection (sunscreen and hat) and avoid any other sources of extreme heat such as saunas.
  • Avoid strenuous exercise for 24 hours.
  • Avoid anti-inflammatory medications for one week post treatment.
  • Avoid icing the area as this weakens the inflammatory response required for platelets to work effectively.
  • For PRP face treatments, sleep slightly elevated on the first night to reduce swelling.
  • For both hair and face treatments, please use a fresh pillowcase when sleeping to avoid contamination/infection of the wounds.
